Zim’s Ingredients: Tea Tree Oil

One of the most powerful all natural ingredients used in the Zim’s line of pain relief liquids is tea tree oil. Also known as melaleuca oil, this essential oil is used to treat everything from dandruff to insect bites and many conditions in-between.

Tea tree is actually a name used for more than one plant coming from New Zealand and Australia. They are all in the myrtle family and look like little shrubs more than a typical tree.

The oil from the plants became popular in the 1920s when an Australian entrepreneur named Arthur Penfold decided to sell it as an antiseptic. Even today some scientific research has shown tea tree oil to have antimicrobial and other medicinal properties. Some even use it as an ingredient for hand sanitizer and other antiseptic products.

Tea tree oil can also be used as an all natural insect repellent, deodorant, acne treatment, and household cleaner. However, it is poisonous when swallowed and some users have an allergic reaction so use with caution especially if you are not sure how your skin will react.

Not only does tea tree oil have many practical uses it also has a calming and powerful scent that makes for great aromatherapy. Many like to add it to a humidifier or steamer and get all the benefits the oil can provide throughout your house.

Most importantly, tea tree oil is an essential ingredient in the Zim’s line of pain relief liquids because of its ability to soothe and calm aching muscles. It helps the gels penetrate the muscle and provide relief from pain quickly. One might say it’s a natural fit for Zims!
